A friend and I have decided to devote our quiet times to reading Psalms in hopes to get insight on giving praise.. real praise.. genuine praise..
A gratitude so great that all you really can do.. is sing.
I didn’t grow up in the church. I wasn’t forced into going.. it was a choice I made for myself when I was lost and seeking answers. Slowly God changed my heart. Music has always been a huge part of my life but I soon realized it was a gift God gave me to ultimately find Him.
I read chapter 1 of Psalms and a big smile came over my face. Starting from verse 2 I started singing the words.. recollection..it was the first song I had ever sang at church to the congregation.
“I will delight in the law of the Lord.. I will meditate day and night. Then like a tree firmly planted I’ll be, standing in Your word. Blessed is the one who follows the way of the Lord. Blessed is the one.”
I tend to have these episodes in my life where I have to rewind and get back on track with my relationship with God. In my heart I tell Him I’m sorry for being distracted. In my heart He tells me He’s been waiting but He’s more loving and welcoming than ever.
BOOK I Psalms 1–41
1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
